Cylindrical Press Mould

Using a press mould prepares your plant material for the rosin pressing process. Rosin is a solvent-less extraction method that uses heat and pressure to extract essential oils from various plants. A pre-press mould helps to shape and compact your material before it goes into the rosin press. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use a pre-press rosin mould:

Materials Needed:

  • Pre-press mould
  • Plant material
  • Parchment paper
  • Rosin press
  • Micron filter bags (optional)

Procedure:

1. Prepare Your Plant Material
- If you're using herb flowers, break them down into smaller pieces.
- If you're using anything else, make sure it's a consistent texture.

2. Load the Pre- Press Mould
- Open the pre-press mould and place a piece of parchment paper on one side.
- Add the desired amount of material onto the parchment paper, making sure it's centred within the mould.

3. Close the Mould
- Fold the other half of the mould over the plant material, sandwiching it between the parchment paper.

4. Press and Compact
- Apply pressure to the mould, compressing the plant material. This step helps in creating a more even and compact puck of material, which can improve rosin extraction efficiency.

5. Remove the Puck
- Open the mould and carefully remove the compressed puck of plant material. The parchment paper should make it easy to take out without damaging the material.

6. Optional: Use Micron Filter Bags
- If you want to further refine your rosin and prevent plant material from contaminating the extract, you can place the compressed puck into a micron filter bag before placing it in the rosin press.

7. Preheat Your Rosin Press
- Set your rosin press to the desired temperature. The optimal temperature can vary depending on factors such as the strain and the texture of your starting material.

8. Place Puck in the Rosin Press
- Position the compressed puck in the centre of a piece of parchment paper and place it between the heated plates of the rosin press.

9. Press the Rosin
- Close the rosin press and apply pressure. The heat and pressure will extract the essential oils from the plant material, producing your rosin extract.

10. Collect Rosin
- Open the press, carefully remove the puck, and collect the rosin from the parchment paper.

Remember to follow safety precautions, such as wearing heat-resistant gloves and using proper ventilation. The specifics can vary based on the equipment you have, so always refer to the manufacturer's instructions for your particular rosin press and pre-press mould.
